The Fanal Forest in Madeira is one of the island’s largest laurel forests and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Natural Heritage of Humanity. This amazing forest has also been protected by the Madeira Natural Park since 1982. Fanal is a particularly humid laurel forest, due to the subtropical climate of the island and is therefore often often enshrouded in mist and fog.
